Florentine people do many things well. They make fantastic gelato, incubate marvellous fashion designers, curate art and architecture. Florentines are all about the classics. Maintaining the glory days of the Renaissance in the best way possible and presenting their past masterpieces to about 13 million tourists a year. For a city of only 300 thousand habitat its a pretty good achievement. But lets face it; Florence does not do modern. Or at least it didn't when I moved here 6 years ago. If I wanted a good cocktail I had to fly to London and for any food that is not Pizza, Pasta, Lasagna I had to make it myself. And then everything changed. Young Italian creatives followed their dreams and transformed the old, traditional and classic to modern, unique and timeless. One of the finest examples I could find is La Menagere. What use to be a home accessory shop since 1896 is now transformed to a modern marketplace: flower shop, home decor, cafe, bar, restaurant and temporary my office (for few hours on the 22 of November 2017) under the same roof. A great cup of coffee (or 3), a Nutella croissant, great Jazz music and young international vibe.
