Wassabi green, baby pink, bright yellow, colorful florals, and a touch of gold, all represent Giambattista Valli’s mood for spring/summer 2023, and non are presented in my black and white 35mm film series from the great designer’s show backstage in Paris. The textures and details of the embroidery, tulle, transpirate following fabrics, and gemstones tell a different story and are better presented and appreciated in monochrome.
The gladiator sandals, elements in the skirts, and wrap-like dresses throw me to another period. Packages together with bindi dots, extra large earrings, and sunglasses the Italian collection almost feels like it was created before the invention of colored film.
The classic meets (very) modern twist of colors in fabric and casting diversity and a timeless mood that can only be transferred on a grayscale roll.
