Florence Calling

Spring-Summer 2020 Menswear Show Pitti Immagine Uomo 96

Salvatore Ferragamo chooses Florence and Pitti Uomo as the world stage to debut the new Spring-Summer 2020 Menswear collection.
The house will present a special fashion show at Pitti Immagine Uomo 96 (Florence, 11-14 June 2019), on Tuesday 11 June.

Ferruccio Ferragamo, President of Salvatore Ferragamo: “Florence is our heart, a part of our history, and we are enthusiastic to be back here as “Florence Calling” at Pitti Uomo. At a moment of great consolidation for our brand’s style and identity, we believe that Pitti is the ideal setting for highlighting the direction taken as we move forward, showcasing a strong menswear collection outside the co-ed environment.”

Paul Andrew, Creative Director: “Florence has always been a creative and inspirational platform for Salvatore Ferragamo and for our founder. Pitti Uomo is therefore the natural location for expressing the contemporary vision that represents us today: strong cultural continuity between different generations, with a constant eye to the future. It is an opportunity for emphasising our DNA, that added value that makes us distinctly unique. This collection, on which I am working with our Head of Menswear, Guillaume Meilland, will embrace the creative essence of Ferragamo’s male universe.”

MSGM

Special Anniversary

On the occasion of Pitti Immagine Uomo 96 MSGM, the brand founded in 2009 by Massimo Giorgetti returns to Florence as a Pitti Special Anniversary to celebrate its first ten years. On Thursday 13 June 2019, in a yet-to-be-revealed location, a fashion show will be staged to present the MSGM Spring-Summer 2020 Collection.

“Six years ago, amid neon lights, skaters and music by Nirvana and The Cardigans, Massimo Giorgetti was one of the first protagonists of Pitti Italics, the program created to promote the new wave of Italian fashion designers who had already achieved international recognition,” says Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine director of communications and events. “We truly enjoyed that happy tale capturing the atmosphere of Romagna locales which have gone on to become a global reference. Now MSGM is celebrating its tenth anniversary and once more we are pleased to open the doors of Pitti Uomo to a brand that in the meantime has established a precise stylistic identity – a mix between the Italian sartorial tradition and rhythms of the new millennium – and has become a solid entrepreneurial entity with plans for further expansion. Welcome back Massimo!”

“I am very happy to be returning to Pitti Uomo with the MSGM Men’s Collection that we officially presented in 2013 with an event held in Florence,” says Massimo Giorgetti, designer and founder of MSGM. “It was the first time an international audience was introduced to MSGM and today it is very important for me to once again be the guest of this event and this city with the first of our activities to celebrate 10 years of the brand.”

Marco De Vincenzo

Italics Special Event

Marco De Vincenzo returns to Pitti Uomo as the Pitti Italics Special Event for this edition (June 11-14, 2019). Recognized as one of the most innovative voices on the fashion scene, the designer will launch his first menswear collection. The Marco De Vincenzo SS2020 men's collection will be presented at a fashion show scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

“Marco De Vincenzo is one of the most successful Italian fashion talents on an international level," said Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine Director of Communication & Events. "We are happy that he is back at Pitti Uomo for the debut of his menswear collection. I am convinced that together we will find a space in Florence able to further inspire him for this truly special occasion. It already happened three years ago when his installation inside the historic Niccolini Theater built around the visual and spatial relationships between the clothes, crystals and lights enthralled the public due to the refined cultural references. May it be a good omen for this new, necessary and courageous undertaking of Marco.”

“In 2016 I was invited by Pitti as a guest designer for women's ready-to-wear," said the designer and founder Marco de Vincenzo. “The energy of that event was so incredible that I had promised myself I would return for an important debut. My first menswear collection could only be presented in a similar context, where the joy of doing this job is felt in every corner of the city.”
