Recently, all the it girls and celebrities seem to be wearing the same bag. It does not have a big label, it does not scream for attention, and it does not need to. And yet somehow, it is impossible to miss. Even without a logo, its iconic shape reveals the brand.
This week in Stockholm, DeMellier, co-hosted by the British Embassy in Stockholm, brought together friends of the brand including editors, creatives, and industry guests for an evening at the Royal Opera of Sweden. The conversation, led by Mireia Llusia Lindh, the founder and creative director of DeMellier, and Samantha Job, the British Ambassador to Sweden, reinforced the idea that fashion can have purpose. Discussions ranged from women and leadership to creating opportunity and fair practices in every sphere of life. Fashion was not the topic, but it was the platform that brought the room together.
The Stockholm bag, celebrated at the event, embodies all of these principles. Inspired by Scandinavian design, it balances structure and function with elegance. Clean lines, practical proportions, and thoughtful details make it instantly recognizable. But the bag carries more than form. It carries energy, intention, and the values that created it.
So how do you make an It Bag?
It starts with materials that are chosen with care. Every DeMellier bag is made from leather sourced as a byproduct of the food industry. Materials that might otherwise go to waste are transformed into pieces that are resilient, beautiful, and designed to last. It is not just leather, it is responsibility, attention, and respect for the craft.
Then comes the making. Skilled artisans in Europe bring every bag to life with attention to every stitch, proportion, and detail. A bag is not simply sewn together, it is built thoughtfully, with hands that know what they are doing and eyes that never let anything slip.
And it does not end there. DeMellier listens. The brand listens to its audience, to the women who use its bags, and to the people who engage with its story. Every shape, every size, and every detail is informed by understanding how the bag will be used, how it will fit into real life, and how it can convey meaning beyond style.
DeMellier’s purpose extends even further through its initiative A Bag, A Life, which directs a portion of every sale toward vaccines and vital medical treatments for children in need. Sustainability, craft, philanthropy, and design come together to create bags that are more than objects. They are statements, tools, and companions.
A real it bag has a reason. It is made with care, with thought, and with attention to detail. It reflects the world you want to see, the values you want to uphold, and the positive energy you want to bring into your everyday life. When all of that comes together, the bag finds its place, and sometimes, it finds you.
