For his first Pre-Spring collection at Jean Paul Gaultier, Duran Lantink doesn't set out to rewrite the house's identity. Instead, he reaches into its archive, treating decades of Jean Paul Gaultier history as the starting point for Le Vestiaire 1. The collection unfolds as a dialogue between past and present, where the house's most recognizable codes are revisited through Lantink's contemporary lens.

At the heart of the collection are analogue fitting photographs taken by Jean Paul Gaultier during the development of his 1997 collection. Reworked into trompe-l'œil prints, the images transform archival documentation into an integral part of the garments, carrying the house's history into the present.

Sailor, military, and biker references appear throughout, from printed medals and chevrons to anchor-detailed belts and protective high collars. Lantink also continues his exploration of proportion with enlarged trompe-l'œil effects, a padded bomber dress, an inverted-lapel skirt, and an upside-down slip-shirt dress.

Tailoring remains central, with brown pinstripes, nylon suiting, and relaxed silhouettes sitting alongside signature Jean Paul Gaultier codes, including the conical bra, tire-inspired jewelry, and sculptural footwear.

Looking to the past can be one of fashion's most creative exercises. With Le Vestiaire 1, Lantink treats the Jean Paul Gaultier archive as a living resource, proving that great ideas don't lose their relevance.
