Metropol Palace

21.11.23 Belgrade

Article by Gili Biegun

Situated in the heart of Belgrade, the Metropol Palace Hotel seamlessly merges contemporary comfort with historical charm. Originally established in 1957 and recently refurbished, the hotel offers a modern yet relaxed experience for its guests. During my stay in an Executive Suite with a city view, I enjoyed a perfect balance of sophistication and ease.

The Metropol Palace Hotel has a storied history, from being envisioned as the "largest congress center in the Balkans" to its transformation into a high-rise hotel. Hosting renowned guests like Brigitte Bardot, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Jack Nicholson, Kirk Douglas, Robert De Niro, and Alfred Hitchcock; the hotel has been an integral part of Belgrade's elite social scene.

After meticulous reconstruction from 2008 to 2012, the Metropol Palace reopened its doors under The Luxury Collection in October 2012. The white façade, stained glass window, and mosaic were restored, preserving the hotel's architectural charm.

The hotel's dedication to providing a comfortable stay is evident in every detail. From the extra large bathtubs and pampering room services to Deluxe Rooms overlooking the city center, the Metropol Palace caters to both short-term and long-term guests. The well-appointed accommodations, adorned with tasteful decor, create a welcoming retreat after a day of exploring nearby attractions.

A highlight of the Metropol Palace is its rooftop restaurant, The Twenty Two. With Michelin recommendations, this culinary gem presents a delightful fusion of local and international cuisine. The rooftop terrace bar offers pleasant views of the city, adding an extra layer to the dining experience.

For relaxation and rejuvenation, the hotel's Spa Center is a haven of tranquility. Featuring an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, gym, sauna, steam bath, and massage facilities, it provides a perfect escape from the city's hustle and bustle.

Located at the corner of Bulevar kralja Aleksandra and Karnegijeva street, the Metropol Palace Hotel boasts a central location with proximity to major attractions. The hotel's historical significance, coupled with its modern amenities, creates an atmosphere of refined elegance and relaxation.

In conclusion, the Metropol Palace Hotel in Belgrade offers a harmonious blend of history and modern comfort. Whether you seek a cultural retreat, a gastronomic adventure, or a serene escape, this five-star gem promises a relaxed yet refined experience. As I reflect on my stay, the Metropol Palace remains an inviting destination, encouraging guests to indulge in the charms of Belgrade.
